Color Palettes: Creating Atmospheric Interiors Using the Donald Kaufman Color Collection by Suzanne Butterfield, X
Many elements go into making a beautiful room - one of the most important is color. Certainly it is the one we can most easily control, often with profound results. Yet one of the greatest challenges in decorating is deciding which colors fit our own space, which ones will make the room feel just right. In Color Palettes, Suzanne Butterfield offers real help, showing 26 glorious interiors primarily colored with paints from the Donald Kaufman Color Collection, full-spectrum colors known for their extraordinary effects. The palettes for each story, shown as swatches, give readers ready-made color groupings they can adopt for their own homes or alter as they wish. A lucid text explains why each palette was chosen and how individual colors affect each other and the rooms in which they were used. Through specific examples, the reader will gain a solid grounding in how to approach coloring a space: how to make the architecture work in different ways through color, how finishes can change the entire feeling of a room. The importance of balancing warm and cool tones, of providing contrasts, of juxtaposing complements are all explained in simple, practical terms. A final chapter tells how to test paint colors and choose finishes.

Color Field - Color Field is an art movement which began in the 1960s and is characterized by canvases painted entirely by large areas of solid color.

Line art - Line art is any kind of image that can be reproduced directly using a single color of ink or other pigment. The term refers to the fact that it typically consists of distinct lines drawn on paper, without gradations in shade (darkness) or hue (color), but areas of solid color and dots can also be used in addition to lines.

Primary color - A primary color (or colour) is a color that cannot be created by mixing other colors in the gamut of a given color space. Primary colors may themselves be mixed to produce most of the colors in a given color space: mixing two primary colors produces what is generally called a secondary color, mixing a secondary with a primary produces what is sometimes called a tertiary color.

Rosin - Rosin is a solid form of resin obtained from pines and some other plants, mostly conifers, produced by heating fresh liquid resin to vapourise the volatile liquid terpene components. It is semi-transparent and varies in color from yellow to black.
